Hey there. My name is Betsy. What do you need to know about me? I'm a teacher, a seamstress, a knitter, a writer, a dreamer, a reader, a thinker, a laugher, a big fan of Bruce Springsteen and various other musical artists who suit my mood, a singer, just to name a few.
I'm Catholic and I'm proud of it and I don't like it when people rip on my religion or others' religions, or others' views or lives or whatever - but I'm still snarky now and then. I'm a bit of a contradiction. I am forever amazed by life, and the ways we interact with others, and how those effect us and others. I'm a firm believer in fate, and that we always end up right where we're supposed to be, for better or for worse, and all experience is valuable. The hardest parts of life make us who we are. I try to challenge myself to learn more and understand more about things I don't know or don't understand.
I'm a goofball who loves stand-up and British comedy. I'm a former short-term resident of Ireland (sounds better than study abroad, right?) and I'm constantly scheming on ways to get back there. I have a pretty awesome family and pretty swell friends. I have really random aspirations, like starting my own Irish band and owning an alpaca ranch. I'm an enthusiastic talker who will gab your ear off about anything and everything.
I'm a Civil War living historian obsessed with historic clothing, social customs and material culture. I wish my checkbook would keep up with my antique collection.
I'm really open about who I am, what I think and what I believe, but most of my entries - at least the really juicy ones - are friends only, for professionalism and all that. But I'm always into making new friends, so just comment and tell me who you are and voila, we'll be friends!
